It is law in Victoria for pets to be microchipped before they
can be registered.

Microchipping involves inserting a small implant – the size of a grain of rice – under your pet’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades, so they can be permanently identified. It takes only a few seconds and is a relatively painless procedure. Pets of any age can be microchipped.

Microchipping greatly increases your chances of being reunited with your lost or stolen pet because it includes an Australia-wide, 24-hour, year-round animal recovery service.

How to book

Hampton Park Veterinary Hospital provides microchipping services by appointment. Please let us know when making the booking that microchipping is required.

How to update your pet’s microchip details

If you move house it’s important to update your pet’s microchip details. All pets microchipped at Hampton Park Veterinary Hospital are registered at Central Animal Records or Australian Animal Records. Please contact the above organisations directly to update your pet’s information.

If you microchipped your pet elsewhere and are not sure which microchip organisation holds their details, you can find out by visiting Pet Address
